Privacy Policy
Effective: May 1, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Spector (“we”, “us”, “our”), operated by Spector Team based in United States, collects, uses, discloses and safeguards information when you visit our website at http://localhost (the “Service”). By using the Service you agree to this Policy. If you do not agree, please stop using the Service.
1. Who we are
Spector is an independent web tool that helps users save publicly available Instagram content — videos, reels, stories, photos and highlights — to their personal devices. We are not affiliated with Instagram, Meta Platforms Inc. or any of their subsidiaries.
2. Information we do not collect
Spector is designed as a “no login required” service. We do not ask for, do not receive and do not store:
- your real name, postal address, phone number, gender or date of birth;
- your Instagram credentials (username or password);
- the contents of media files you download — files travel directly from Instagram’s servers to your device, not through our storage.
3. Information we collect automatically
When you visit the Service, our servers and the third-party tools we use may automatically collect technical information needed to operate the site, prevent abuse and improve performance:
- Device data: device type, browser, operating system, screen resolution, language, time zone.
- Log data: IP address (truncated where required by law), date and time of visit, referring URL, the page you requested.
- Usage data: which pages you opened, anonymous interaction events (button clicks, form submissions), error reports.
If you choose to send a message via our contact form, we additionally collect the name, email and message you typed in, solely to reply to you.
4. Why we use the information
- To operate, maintain and secure the Service.
- To detect, prevent and respond to fraud, abuse, automated traffic and other threats.
- To measure aggregate usage and improve performance and user experience.
- To serve relevant advertisements through Google AdSense, which keeps the Service free for end users.
- To respond to your support requests, copyright (DMCA) notices and other legal enquiries.
- To comply with applicable laws and to enforce our Terms of Service.
5. Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small data files stored by your browser. We use the following categories:
- Strictly necessary cookies — required for security (CSRF tokens), session management and basic site operation. They cannot be turned off through our settings.
- Performance & analytics cookies — set by Google Analytics and/or Google Tag Manager to understand aggregate usage. You can disable them by enabling “Do Not Track” or by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
- Advertising cookies — set by Google AdSense and its partners to serve and measure ads, including personalised advertising where applicable. You can manage these in your Google Ads Settings.
6. Third-party services we use
We rely on the following third parties. Each one operates under its own privacy policy, which we encourage you to read:
- Google AdSense / Google AdMob for advertising. How Google uses information.
- Google Analytics 4 / Google Tag Manager for usage analytics. Google Privacy Policy.
- Cloudflare for content delivery, DDoS protection and TLS termination.
- Hosting provider for serving the website. Server logs may be retained for up to 30 days for security purposes.
7. Advertising disclosure (Google AdSense)
Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to Spector and other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to our users based on their visit to the Service and/or other sites on the internet.
You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. Alternatively, you can opt out of a third-party vendor’s use of cookies for personalised advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.
8. Data we share
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with:
- service providers listed above, strictly to operate the Service;
- law enforcement and regulators where required by valid legal process;
- any successor entity in the event of a merger, acquisition or asset sale, with notice to users where required by law.
9. International data transfers
Because the internet is global, the technical data we collect may be processed in countries other than your own, including the United States and the European Union. We rely on standard contractual safeguards offered by our service providers.
10. Data retention
- Server logs: up to 30 days, then deleted or anonymised.
- Aggregated analytics: up to 14 months in Google Analytics, then auto-purged.
- Contact form messages: up to 24 months for support continuity, then deleted.
- We do not store the URLs you submit to the downloader or the media files themselves.
11. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- request correction or deletion of inaccurate data;
- object to or restrict certain processing;
- withdraw consent for non-essential cookies;
- lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority (in the EU/UK).
To exercise any of these rights, write to [email protected] from the email address you used with us. We respond to verifiable requests within 30 days.
12. Children’s privacy
The Service is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or 16 where local law requires a higher threshold). We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
13. Security
We use TLS encryption (HTTPS) for all data in transit. We apply administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect the limited information we hold. No online service can guarantee absolute security, however, and we encourage you to use strong passwords and keep your devices updated.
14. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. The “Effective” date at the top reflects the latest revision. Material changes will be announced on this page; minor wording fixes may be made silently.
