IGTV Downloader
Save long-form Instagram videos — interviews, podcasts, vlogs, tutorials — in original 1080p HD quality. No buffering, no waiting, no Instagram login.
The history of IGTV — and why downloads still matter
IGTV launched in 2018 as Instagram’s standalone home for long-form vertical video, with a hard cap of 60 minutes per upload for verified accounts. Over time, Instagram folded the IGTV interface back into the main feed and Reels system, and the dedicated IGTV app was discontinued. The long videos themselves, however, are still on the platform — many creators still publish content that is well beyond the typical reel length, and a huge back-catalogue of older interviews, podcasts and tutorials remains accessible.
Spector handles those long videos as gracefully as it handles short ones. Paste an IGTV URL or any long-form video URL and we return the underlying MP4 file, ready to save.
Built for large files
A 30-minute IGTV episode at 1080p can easily reach several hundred megabytes. Some downloaders try to proxy the entire file through their own server before forwarding it to you — a slow, unreliable approach that often times out on bigger uploads. Spector takes a different route: we ask Instagram for a direct CDN URL and hand it to your browser. Your browser then downloads the file straight from Instagram’s servers at the full speed your connection allows.
The practical effect: a 500 MB IGTV download finishes in roughly the time it would take you to download a 500 MB file from any other website on the same connection. There is no bottleneck on our end, no resampling, no quality compromise. The MP4 you get is bit-for-bit identical to what Instagram has on its CDN.
How to download an IGTV video
- Find the long video on the creator’s profile. On their grid you will see a small “TV” or “Video” badge on the thumbnail.
- Open the post. Tap the three-dot menu, then Copy link. On desktop, copy the URL from your browser’s address bar.
- Paste the URL into the field above and click Download. Spector resolves the file in a couple of seconds; your browser then downloads it directly from Instagram’s CDN.
What if the download is interrupted?
Because the file streams directly from Instagram to your browser, you can use your browser’s standard tools to manage long downloads. On most modern browsers, you can pause and resume large downloads safely. If the connection drops entirely, repeat the paste-and- download flow on this page — Instagram’s CDN URL is short-lived, so Spector will fetch a fresh one for you each time.
Practical use cases for IGTV downloads
- Listen-back content. Many creators post podcast-style conversations or live-show recordings on IGTV. Saving the file lets you listen offline during commutes or workouts without burning mobile data.
- Tutorial archives. Long-form tutorials — coding walkthroughs, fitness classes, language lessons — are much more useful as local files you can scrub through on demand than as content buried in an algorithmic feed.
- Backing up your own series. If you have ever published a multi-part IGTV series and lost access to the source files, Spector lets you reconstruct the set from your own published copies.
- Research and citation. Academic researchers and journalists often need a stable copy of long-form video evidence that may be edited or deleted later.
What we will not do
Spector only fetches publicly visible content. IGTV episodes locked to private accounts are not accessible to us — and we do not work around that. We also do not strip creator watermarks, alter audio or change the file in any way. The MP4 you receive is the file Instagram itself serves to public viewers, no more and no less.
For shorter content, see the video downloader or the reel saver.
